Security Forces Neutralise 20 Militants in KP Operations
Pakistan’s security forces killed at least 20 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan and Dara Adam Khel, the military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed on Monday.
The militants were linked to Fitna al-Khwarij, a group described by officials as an Indian-backed proxy.
Indian-Sponsored Militants Eliminated
According to ISPR, the first operation was carried out in Shawal, North Waziristan, between November 8 and 9. Troops targeted a terrorist hideout and successfully neutralised eight Indian-sponsored fighters.
In a separate engagement in Dara Adam Khel, another 12 insurgents were killed after a heavy exchange of gunfire.
Security forces have now launched a wide sanitisation sweep to clear remaining militants in the region.

Azm-e-Istehkam: Counterterror Push Continues
The ISPR said Pakistan’s counterterrorism drive is being conducted under “Azm-e-Istehkam”, a nationwide strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
The campaign aims to eliminate foreign-funded extremist networks and restore long-term stability.
“Security forces and law enforcement agencies will carry out operations with full force until terrorism is wiped out,” the statement added.

Terrorism Surge Since 2021
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in militant activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban took control of Kabul in 2021.
- Hundreds of cross-border attacks reported
- Civilians, women, children and soldiers targeted
- 600+ incidents recorded in KP in the first 8 months of 2025
- At least 138 civilians and 79 police personnel martyred
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban administration to prevent its territory from being used for attacks inside Pakistan.
Cross-Border Clashes and Retaliatory Strikes
Tensions escalated in October 2025 when Afghan Taliban fighters and affiliated militants opened fire across the border.
Pakistan responded with precision strikes, destroying several strongholds.
- 200+ militants killed in retaliatory action
- 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom
- Terrorist hideouts targeted in Kandahar and Kabul
Both sides later agreed to a ceasefire at the request of the Afghan Taliban.
