Islamabad — National Consensus on Gaza Support

Pakistan’s top military spokesperson, DG ISPR, has stated that the decision to send troops to Gaza will be made only by the government and parliament, reflecting the country’s democratic and institutional process.

Speaking at a recent press briefing, the DG ISPR clarified that the military acts strictly on the government’s directives and does not take independent political positions on foreign missions. This statement comes amid growing calls for Pakistan to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza, where the conflict has caused immense human suffering.

    Parliament’s Role in National Security

The DG ISPR emphasized that national security and foreign deployment decisions must pass through both the civilian government and parliament. “The armed forces of Pakistan will always stand with the will of the people and the decision of their elected representatives,” he said.

The clarification followed speculation on social media regarding Pakistan’s possible involvement in regional peacekeeping or humanitarian operations. Government sources have reiterated that no formal request has been made so far for the deployment of troops to Gaza.

    Public and Political Reactions

Political analysts view the ISPR’s statement as a sign of institutional transparency. Several parliamentarians praised the stance, saying it reinforces Pakistan’s democratic strength and civilian oversight of the military.

Opposition leaders also urged the government to prioritize humanitarian aid to Palestine rather than military deployment. Many believe Pakistan can play a stronger role through diplomatic pressure and relief support under the banner of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

    Pakistan’s Humanitarian Position on Gaza

Pakistan has consistently condemned violence in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire. The government has already sent multiple humanitarian relief consignments including food, medicine, and medical supplies for Palestinian civilians.

In previous sessions, parliament unanimously passed resolutions expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine. These resolutions underline Pakistan’s long-standing support for a peaceful, independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Jerusalem as its capital.

    Conclusion

The ISPR’s latest remarks have once again highlighted Pakistan’s civil-military coordination and its constitutional process for international decisions. As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, Pakistan’s next move will likely focus on relief diplomacy and continued advocacy for peace.

As reported earlier by Pashto Times, Islamabad’s position remains rooted in compassion, legality, and respect for international consensus.
