DUBAI: Pakistan’s recent ODI performances have begun paying off on the global stage, with several players climbing the latest ICC rankings across batting, bowling and all-round categories.
Batters: Salman and Saim Lead the Charge
Middle-order batter Salman Ali Agha made one of the biggest jumps this week. His match-winning century against Sri Lanka pushed him 14 spots up, placing him 16th in the world with 639 points.
Young opener Saim Ayub also continued his rapid rise in international cricket, improving 18 places to reach 35th in the rankings.
Not all news was positive for Pakistan’s top order:
- Babar Azam dropped two places to 7th
- Mohammad Rizwan fell four positions to 27th
- Fakhar Zaman slipped to 31st
India’s Rohit Sharma remains the No.1 ODI batter globally, followed by Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan and Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand.

Bowlers: Abrar Makes Big Leap
In the bowling rankings, mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed recorded a standout rise, jumping 18 places to 20th.
Pace bowler Haris Rauf gained two spots to reach 29th, while Naseem Shah stayed put at 34th.
Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz climbed five places to 65th.
However:
- Captain Shaheen Afridi slipped one position to 16th
- Mohammad Wasim Jr. fell to 85th
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan continues to lead the ODI bowling rankings worldwide, followed by England’s Jofra Archer and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj.
All-Rounders: More Positives for Pakistan
There was further good news in the all-rounder category:
- Salman Ali Agha rose seven spots to 11th
- Naseem Shah moved up to 27th
- Saim Ayub jumped 12 places to 36th
- Haris Rauf climbed to 56th
- Mohammad Nawaz surged an impressive 38 positions to 61st
Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai continues to top the global all-rounder list, followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan.
