‘See You in Court’: Saba Qamar Sues Journalist Over False Allegations

Lahore — Saba Qamar Responds to Allegations with Legal Action

Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has announced that she is taking legal action against journalist Naeem Hanif, who made allegations about her personal life on social media following her recent comments about Karachi.

The controversy began after Qamar appeared on a podcast where she was asked whether she would ever consider moving to Karachi permanently. Her response — “Astaghfirullah, never!” — quickly went viral and sparked debate across social media platforms.

She joked that she might only relocate if someone bought her a house in Karachi, adding that she already owns a home in Lahore’s DHA area.

    Journalist’s Allegations Spark Controversy

In response to the viral clip, journalist Naeem Hanif posted a video on his YouTube channel, claiming that Qamar had lived in a house in Walton, Lahore, around 2003–2004. He alleged that the house was provided by a man with whom she was “reportedly involved,” and that she later went to a news office after being harassed by the same person.

The video quickly spread online, drawing mixed reactions from fans — with some defending Saba Qamar and others questioning the journalist’s claims.

Saba Qamar Denies Claims, Issues Legal Warning

The actress swiftly responded to the allegations on her Instagram Story, calling them baseless and defamatory.

“Spreading false allegations about someone is a serious offense. I’ve never lived in Walton, and none of what you’ve claimed is true,” she wrote.

Qamar went on to announce that she has filed a legal case against Hanif. “I’m taking legal action against you. See you in court,” she added, signaling a firm stance against misinformation and online harassment.

    Public Reaction on Social Media

Social media users have been divided over the controversy. Many fans have praised Qamar for standing up for her reputation, while others urged celebrities and journalists to exercise responsibility in public statements.

Supporters shared hashtags like #StandWithSabaQamar and #SayNoToDefamation, applauding her for handling the situation professionally through legal means rather than emotional exchanges.

    Celebrity Rights and Media Ethics

The incident has reignited discussions about media ethics and privacy rights in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Legal experts note that defamation laws protect individuals from false public accusations that harm their reputation.

Several actors, including Mahira Khan and Hania Aamir, have previously spoken out about online trolling and misinformation in entertainment journalism. Qamar’s response adds to the growing call for accountability and responsible reporting.

    Conclusion

Saba Qamar’s decision to pursue legal action sends a clear message about integrity and justice in the digital age. As one of Pakistan’s most respected actresses, her stance highlights the importance of truth and professionalism in an era of viral gossip and social media speculation.

As reported earlier by Pashto Times, the case could set an example for how Pakistani celebrities confront defamation and protect their image in the public eye.
